2018 Lucero Syrah
Lucero is named for a star-like marking on a horse’s forehead, and inspired by the stars still glistening in the early morning sky when we pick syrah at Kingston. Our Lucero Syrah is less intense than its big brother Bayo Oscuro, and is a blend of different parcels within the greater Kingston vineyard.
This year Lucero combines ripe blackberry fruit with some meatiness and bacon fat in the aromas; on the palate it’s juicy and mouthfilling without being heavy. Use of whole clusters and stems adds a savory note and a pleasant fleshiness, although the overall tannin impression is quite soft. Read more in Byron's tasting notes ››
