Lucero is named for a star-like marking on a horse’s forehead, and inspired by the stars still glistening in the early morning sky when we pick syrah at Kingston.  Our Lucero Syrah is less intense than its big brother Bayo Oscuro, and is a blend of different parcels within the greater Kingston vineyard.

The 2016 Lucero is unusually fresh and light on its feet. It has the usual black olive, spice, meat and dark fruit notes that are typical of a Kingston Syrah, but on a more lithe frame. It is a wine meant for pleasure, and at the winery we will be enjoying many bottles beside the grill this summer, I am sure! Read more in Byron's tasting notes ›

**(94 points)** Best of Syrah and Best of Casablanca - *Descorchados* **(90 points)** Picked between the rain showers in 2016, this 90% whole bunch-fermented Syrah is firm and grippy with some toasty oak, dense damson and blackberry fruit and notes of clove and Asian spices. - *Tim Atkin* **(Around 9)** Dark garnet in the glass, this wine smells of doused campfire and cassis. In the mouth, blackberry bramble, black olive and snuffed match flavors have a nice salty savoriness to them. Hints of white pepper linger in the finish. Excellent acidity and the faintest of powdery tannins. -*Vinography*
