Our Bayo Oscuro is Kingston Family’s best Syrah.  Inspired by a black stallion, Bayo’s dark, powerful nature is true to its name. We typically make less than 200 cases, and do not bottle it every year. Bayo Oscuro is worth the wait.

The 2015 Bayo is a little shyer in the aromas than the Lucero. It’s a bit more savory and earthy than fruity, and on the palate quite structured and multi-layered.  It’s packed pretty tight, with a core of fleshy tannin, slightly saline notes, and dense (if a little unresolved) fruit. It’s a lot of wine, but it’s not “big". Read more in Byron's tasting notes ››

**(94 points)** Blackberry and blueberry with rose petal and dark herb aromas. Full body, dense and fruity. Long and intense finish. Drink or hold. -*James Suckling* **(92 points)** Editor's Choice. Dusty aromas of tea and dried spices blend well with black olive and black-fruit notes. This wine has a lean but muscular build. Plum and wild berry flavors come with dry, spicy oak accents. Acidity keeps the finish in shape and ensures length -*Wine Enthusiast* **(92 points)** -*Descorchados* **(91 points)** The 2015 Syrah Bayo Oscuro has a lot less oak than the previous vintage I tasted, which was the 2011. This comes from their ungrafted vines planted on clay and granite soils in 1998 and 2005 on slopes. The grapes were fermented with 40% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and aged in 400-liter French oak barrels for one year. It has a nice varietal nose mixing aromas of violets, smoky bacon and a spicy twist. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a faint bitterness in the finish. It has good ripeness and power without excess. -*Robert Parker*
