2014 Lucero Syrah
Lucero is named for a star-like marking on a horse’s forehead, and inspired by the stars still glistening in the early morning sky when we pick syrah at Kingston. Our Lucero Syrah is less intense than its big brother Bayo Oscuro, and is a blend of different parcels within the greater Kingston vineyard.
The Lucero is dark and rich, actually bigger than the Bayo and the CJs this year. Mouthfilling and plush, great for pizza or pasta with red sauce, although it would hold its own against more refined fare, as long as said fare was hearty. It’s not shy about its charms.
