2011 Lucero Syrah
Lucero is named for a star-like marking on a horse's forehead, and inspired by the stars still glistening in the early morning sky when we pick syrah at Kingston. Our Lucero Syrah is less intense than its big brother Bayo Oscuro, and is a blend of different parcels within the greater Kingston vineyard. In the aromas, the 2011 Lucero has some meaty notes as well as fresh blackberry. Hints of Mediterranean spices. A little less sauvage and earthy than the 2010 Lucero. On the palate, it is beautifully balanced, almost Pinot-like in the way the acid, tannin and fruit come together.
