2016 Alazan Pinot Noir
Alazan is our top Pinot Noir and a sommelier favorite for its sophistication and depth. Named after Peter Kingston’s burgundy-colored horse in the 1950’s, Alazan is a limited, reserve bottling made from a few special cuarteles in the Kingston vineyard.
The 2016 Alazan is one of the least extracted but most fruit-rich and energetic Alazans to date. It is forward and honest. It shows little oak influence although most of it is raised in French oak cooperage. I think this wine would do well with sophisticated fare with earthy/savory notes.
